Transexual Beauty Queen Is Allowed To Compete In Miss Universe Canada

Thanks to the wonderful organization GLAAD, transexual beauty queen Jenna Talackova has been cleared to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant!
Previously, the Donald Trump-owned organization had squashed Jenna's dreams by disqualifying her because she was born a male. Since discrimination is NEVER cool, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation called upon the Miss Universe Organization to review her case.

In a statement released on Monday, the organization revealed they had reversed their decision:

“The Miss Universe Organization will allow Jenna Talackova to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions.”

So awesome! In response to the change of heart, a spokesman for GLAAD said:

“The Miss Universe Organization made the right decision and has taken an important first step. Now, GLAAD urges the Organization to include all women and use this incident to speak out in support of the transgender community."

We totally agree! It's a shame that this situation needed intervention from a third party, but that is exactly why GLAAD exists and we can't thank them enough for all the good  they do on a daily basis.
Good luck in the competition, Jenna!
